Palliative Massage
Holistic End-of-Life Care
Palliative Massage
Touch is one of the last senses to remain intact as the body begins to shut down, which makes it especially powerful in end-of-life care. Palliative massage is a gentle, intentional form of therapeutic touch designed to bring comfort and support to individuals facing terminal illness or advanced aging. Rooted in the principles of holistic end-of-life care, this approach honours the whole person—not just the body in distress, but the emotions, spirit, and story they carry.
Whether someone is navigating a new diagnosis, living with the uncertainty of serious illness, or approaching their final days, palliative massage offers a quiet, supportive presence. It eases physical discomfort while creating space for stillness and connection. In a time that can feel overwhelming or isolating, compassionate touch becomes a powerful reminder: you are not alone, and you are deeply cared for.
Through palliative massage, we honour the body’s journey—its resilience, its pain, its wisdom, and its surrender.
What to Expect
Palliative massage sessions are offered in the home, in hospices, hospitals, or long-term care settings in the Montreal area. Sessions are gentle, adaptable, and responsive to the person’s physical and emotional state.
If verbal communication is limited, I work with sensitivity to nonverbal cues and collaborate with caregivers or loved ones to ensure that each session honours the person’s needs and comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is palliative massage?
Palliative massage is a gentle, therapeutic form of touch that supports individuals living with serious or terminal illness. It focuses on comfort—helping to relieve pain, reduce anxiety, and provide a calming, human connection during a deeply vulnerable time. Each session is tailored to meet the person where they are, with sensitivity, compassion, and deep respect for their experience.
What happens during a session?
Each session begins with a gentle check-in to assess comfort, needs, and energy levels. Massage is provided with light to moderate pressure and may include slow, rhythmic strokes, holding, and breath awareness. Essential oils may be used if desired, and care is always taken to avoid areas of sensitivity, fragility, or pain.
Above all, the session is designed to offer ease, comfort, and connection—without demands, expectations, or pressure to “do” anything.
