About Me

Nina de Cocq, EOLD, RMT
My name is Nina de Cocq and I am an End-of-Life Doula (EOLD) and Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) based in Montreal, Quebec. I offer holistic mind-body support through life’s transitions by integrating therapeutic touch, empathetic support, and compassionate care.
From a young age, I felt strongly drawn to the healing arts. My passion for helping others and easing their pain led me to become a massage therapist. This profession has allowed me to blend my intuitive skills with evidence-based techniques to create a safe and transformative space for healing.
As a massage therapist, I believe in the power of touch as a universal language—a way to connect with others on a profound level. Touch can soothe pain, foster relaxation, and support emotional and physical well-being. Each session is unique, tailored to meet the needs of my clients in the moment. I aim to provide a sanctuary where they can release tension, find relief, and reconnect with themselves.
My approach is rooted in the belief that our bodies hold wisdom, often speaking when we don’t have words for our feelings. I’ve learned that while pain is a natural part of being in a body, compassionate touch can bring immense comfort and peace. Establishing trust and honouring the vulnerability that comes with receiving massage are central to my practice.

How I Became an End-of-Life Doula
When I was 18, I cared for my grandmother in her final months. Years later, I supported my father through brain cancer. I witnessed the challenges they faced and experienced deeply meaningful moments of connection. I came to understand the sacredness of life’s final stages and the vital need for compassionate support.
I also became aware of the significant gaps in end-of-life care within our medical system. I saw families struggling to navigate a challenging transition without sufficient emotional and practical support. Recognizing this unmet need, I trained as an end-of-life doula to provide presence, guidance, and holistic care to those facing their final journey.
End-of-life care is about honouring each person’s unique process of letting go. I see my role as a bridge between the physical and the emotional, offering support that nurtures both body and soul. This work is constantly teaching me how to help support others in embracing the uncertainty surrounding death and to recognize the transformative power of connection.
My Philosophy
I believe that life’s final stages are as important as its beginnings. Just as we prepare for birth with care and intention, we can approach death with the same reverence. By acknowledging the emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of this journey, we can create a space for healing, connection, and closure. When we are fully present with people as they face the reality of their mortality, a sacred space emerges—one that holds them, their soul, and the profound possibility for love and connection at the end of life.
In my practice, I integrate my skills as an end-of-life doula and massage therapist to support individuals at every stage of life. Whether through therapeutic touch or end-of-life companionship, my goal is to help people feel seen, supported, and cared for.
Community Service
Giving back to the community is a vital part of my practice, and my work in palliative care has profoundly shaped my approach as a doula. As a volunteer at a palliative care unit in Montreal, I have had the privilege of working with dying people and their families.
As a volunteer at a palliative care unit in Montreal, I have witnessed firsthand how a calm and compassionate presence can ease suffering, bring comfort, and make meaningful moments possible in the face of uncertainty. Gentle touch, active listening, and simply sitting quietly are all part of the process.

What Nina’s Clients Are Saying
“I’ve had the joy of working with Nina for over three years, and in that time, I’ve witnessed the quiet magic she brings to her work. Her presence is both grounding and gentle; she meets each moment with deep compassion and a down-to-earth spirit that balances tenderness with lightness, uncertainty with acceptance, and grief with gratitude. Nina has a gift for making space feel safe, sacred, and real. Her work is deeply human and transformative, gently reshaping our relationship with death and weaving new stories rooted in presence, dignity, and care.”
“My meetings with Nina have helped me to articulate more clearly my end of life wishes. I have learned about cremation, aquamation and terramation, about the environmental impact our body presents after death and the most earth friendly solutions that are open to us. I learned that speaking about death and dying does not have to be sad but rather allows for calmness and peace of mind.”
